TOPIC: 196? Arkansas Traveler**Pictures

I am a newb to this site and so far have found it a great source of information. I am however asking for some help/Insight.

I have recently been given the opportunity to restore one of these cool old FG boats. I am not sure however on the model/year. Attached are a bunch of pictures that I was hoping some folks out there could help me on year? model? source for parts? insight on problem areas and what common problems to look for.

(little)bit of history
the boat was running and in the water(salt) 2 years ago. it has been sitting since. appears to be a 70's?? 50 hp evinrude. Push button transmission?

Just a guess but I'd say a 63 because the 14 might be the length. My guess on the outboard would be 72 but I don't know what I'm talking about. Welcome aboard. Someone who knows will comment.

Rip_fc3, welcome aboard. Nice find, can't help on the boat much but do have some questions, did it come with that trailer? I'm guessing 14' on the boat because that railer is definitely way to big for it, I'm guessing about 18' on the trailer, maybe larger. Is that grass/weeds growing from dirt in the back? Hopefully it is and not coming through the bottom! Looks like a utility hull but not sure what year. Have you checked the glassic library here. There is some info there

I had one like that only red/white. My first glass boat with a 40 'rude. Excellent riding. If I remember correctly the seats were simple cusions set on aluminum tubing.

No, I still havent moved it, it is at a friends house down the street and the sea ray must move before i can move it.

There is a weed growing out if the bildge(nothing really).

I checked the library and couldnt find this exact boat, some numbers were close but I was either missing a digit or in the pictures the lines are not correct. DUT-143G(model #)

the library ends at 1962-3 I believe, so I can reason that it is newer.

The fiberglass floor seems pretty solid but it could have been carpeted at one time, Im not sure.

Thats Why I was hoping some "Olde Salts" might be hanging around to lend some knowledge.

Looks like you are gonna have a nice little project going there once you get started. I would really get the weeds and dirt out of the hull as they hold the water in and they can do a really bad number on the fiberglass. Not to mention they are in an area where you don't want any damage. Boat looks pretty good as it sits, keep us posted on the progress. Skip.

It is a great looking boat. One thing I would do is get a trailer to fit the boat. Maybe and old Tee Nee or something built well. I have a 72 Electra under my MFG and it works but is made with a real thin tube and is just not as well constructed as my Tee Nee under the Winner. That boat would stick out better on a vintage trailer. I like it. Look in the section on trailers and look at the different kinds and styles and maybe look for that brand. There is a forum "Trailer Talk". Love the boat.
