TOPIC: 50 years

Well guys, I will hit the half century mark on the 18th.
My bride and I are heading out to the Portland area to spend a week with or youngest. Gotta love that Oregon coast. I would like to go up and see the good Dr. Frankenmerc if time allows. I am looking for a 1250 block and the Dr. says he has a couple. Lots of boats, large and small, to look at out there.

I'm 53 and just this morning I dropped my hat on the top of a hill in my yard. I bent over to pick it up and fell on my face, tumbled down the hill and ended up hitting my knee I'm getting replaced right after deer season hard. I lay there a minute to make sure all the parts were still attached and I was in fact still alive. After deciding a nice headache was preferable to an untimely death I laughed at myself and now my knee hurts like hell. In just a short year or so you can look forward to the same thing.

We have to learn to laugh at ourselves sometimes, because we are all human and accidents do happen. I honestly hope you never have some of the problems some of use encounter with age. Happy Birthday.

Seeing as how I will be there in March, I'm so glad 50 is the "new" 35.

Happy Birthday Neil, and everybody else who'd having one this month! I kinda quit counting them after 50, but I think 60 is only a couple years away now! Just proud to be alive and kicking at this point, every day is a "gift from above", enjoy 'em all!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes guys. I too have boats and motors that are older than me. Some on better shape too! And all the boats leak less!!!!
I am on vacation this week and I had myself a FG day today. I talked with the good Dr. Frankenmerc, Eduardo, and Tom Miller. I also cleaned up my latest hull. I drug home a Wacanda yesterday. So all day in the shop. I hung a Merc 500 on it just to make it feel at home.
I picked the Wacanda up in Spokane. I stopped at a couple of boat dealers. I saw a Bennington pontoon for $58,000. I didn't get it, but I tried to get some of the stuff they were smoking!! They threw me off the lot when I asked if I could get some warranty work done on the Wacanda. Those folks are like serious or something.
And just as I was leaving, a restored B-17 was coming over low on his landing approach. Beautiful old bird. Of course, being the old koot I've become, my first thought was for it to circle back around and lay an egg on the front couch of that Bennington. Then they could put it in the scratch and dent lot!!!!!

They say you're over the hill at 50, so I wanted to see what it's like at the top of the hill when I turned 50 last fall.
So I found the biggest hill I could find. So I did the Pikes Peak marathon last year. It's real pretty up there, but hard to breath ?
Had there been a lake up there and some glass boats... I would have thought I was in heaven !
Just think... in a few more years, you can get the senior discounts, and free coffee at the Frisch's Big Boy !!!

Happy birthday Neil!! I hit the big 5-0 almost 5 years ago. I will always remember what an older gentleman told me several years ago -
" Getting old ain't for sissys, but it is better than the alternative!!" I believe him more every year. I have been delivering wholesale liquor for over 35 years, so I am getting more aches and pains all the time. But so far its nothing that a few Alieve won't help with every morning ( or a little of our product after work!!!)
