I took the $25 Glastron to OBX (Outer Banks), NC for some fun time.

Some notes: the finished tilt/trim works! This was an overdue project.

One issue that came up: the engine began to miss when running on high speed. A day later realized the plug in the side was not secured! So, the vibration at higher speeds was disconnecting the electrical briefly, causing a misfire. It was noticed and corrected, after that, the engine runs great again.

The pics of the big boats are offshore fishing vessels, some for charter at Pirate's Cove Marina.

Note: I would highly recommend this area for boating if you haven't been there before.

ken,

my "adopted family" has a beach-house on OAK ISLAND, NC, near SOUTHPORT (the "Old Man's hometown" in Robert C Ruark's famous book, THE OLD MAN & THE BOY.)

"my month" to use the house is 15DEC to 15 JAN each year.
(the PALERMO is "rented out" during tourist season, from April Fools Day to well after Labor Day.)

NOTE: JONES SEAFOOD on Oak Island has what i'm convinced is the BEST seafood in the area, as they OWN a "deep water fishing boat" for "out on the salt".

yours, satx

Looks like a beautiful area Ken, thanks for sharing the pics! Glad to hear you got the T&T issues worked out, I'll bet that made for a much nicer day of boating.

Yes, the T&T was a great invention, somewhat like air conditioning: hard to live without it once you have it.

Satx, I can imagine that month is not too cold... sometimes. And possibly the seafood they serve at Jones is calabash style?

We have been coming here for many years and now it's three weeks per year. Like it alot as we know what to do when we get here.

Now that I have a working boat, plan to try Smith Mountain Lake soon and other destinations.
