i did took the boat out for a ride this weekend but just a very short one.i was pushing the trottle a far forward got speed up to 55 mph then suddenly i lose all speed the engine about to stall but it didn,t boat was barely moving so i open the cover to see what happen, what a mess it was gas just dripping out of this hole so much.i shut the engine off cause i was scare it will start a fire or something.1o minutes later from paddle my way back to shore i try to start the engine again it ran but gas still shoting out so i put her in forward gear the boat barely move.i try to plug the hole with my finger then the engine ran very fast again, finger out it almost stall.i guess the mechanic forgot to put the screw back in when he work on the engine couple days before.[see gas dripping where the little red circle is]

Yeah, those are the main jet plugs and you're lucky it didn't blow up! I can't even imagine how much fuel had to be gushing from those holes at speed!!!!

Count your blessings, that's for sure, someone was looking out for you!!!

Did the plug fall out of the bottom carb as well? If not, better check tightness on that one too!

That's not bad luck on your part Commander, it sounds like questionable craftsmanship on the part of your mechanic IMO. We're all human, and can forget things from time to time. But when you're doing something "for hire" I believe you are (or should be) held to a higher standard. I sure agree with Ed, that could have been a life threatening catastrophe very easily! Think I'd be having a conversation with him about making it right with you real soon. Sounds like maybe the plugs were put in there, and just not tightened down? Which means they may be laying in the pan (lower cowling).

Sorry to hear of your misfortune sir, hope your next launch is more successful and enjoyable. ;)

Hi Bill,
Wow, you are one lucky guy with that distributor so close etc.......
The good news is that is should be an easy fix if that is the only leak.
Wild looking boat from above. Just about enough room for you and your daughter! After the fuel leaks are fixed, of course...
