Just picked this up last night. Boat has regi that says 1959 GA/BO???? Anybody out there tell right off what it is by the pics?

Trailer has no regi but the 50 Merc looks decent.....and it's a SHORTY...which I am finding harder to find.

Not really into another big project ...in fact I am going this afternoon to pick up a 1955 Laurel with 40hp Gale that I bought last week... $180 with paperwork...no trailer. I then had to scramble to find a trailer this week...spent the day yesterday restoring/painting. I'll post the Laurel pics later.

Yep...think you guys are right. It compares to the 58 L&S Brochure....sure wish the 59 link worked.

I now need to figure out what the back seat configuration was...this one is all open.

As for the trailer.... as I mentioned no registration. Also ...someone welded one of the fenders back on ...BUT..it was a little too close to the tire. When bringing it home in the city...every time I hit a rough spot or bum I could hear the tire rubbing. It was fine on the highway.

I was just looking at the motor and trailer as a quick turn around so now I am torn. Should I pour a ton of work into restoring this cool classic( Like I did with my Custom Craft) only to sell sell it again some day for a song...like I did with my Custom Craft?

Anybody within reasonable driving distance of Rochester NY interested in this hull cheap?

Thanks,
Tim

The link works, its just broken on the page-

www.lakensea.org/1959lakenseabrochure.html

It could be a 59, there were no changes as far as I know.

If anyone DOES take the hull, I've got emblems for it!!

I might have found another piece to the puzzle. While trying to fire up the Merc I noticed some numbers stamped into the aluminum transom cap(just like Custom Craft did).

They are 8400-0665

Anybody have a Lake n Sea with numbers in the transom cap?

The Biscane carried over into 1959 as well, so it could be a '59.

As for the hull numbers- They are on the builder ID plate on my '59, but it may have been different on yours. The Hull number 8400-0665 is consistent with other Lake N Sea #'s, and would SEEM to decode to-

1958 14 foot 00(not used)- Hull # 655

The '00' that were not used could have been used as an indicator of any number of things- Alas, there are no records...

Don't be too hasty to part with that year Lake'n'Sea . You won't find a better performing 15 foot hull , and your model doesn't have all that gaudy "aircraft inspired" trim they hung on other models.
It may also be that there never was a back seat, as some models were intentionally left open to leave room for water skis, scuba tanks, etc.
