dandawn79,

if it was me, i'd look for a NICE 1960 Johnson or Evinrude 35HP with 2 lever controls.

it will do FINE on that hull as i've run a 45HP Mercury on an almost identical hull in the mid-60s.

BEST WISHES, satx

People put 50's and 75's on them. 35 is a nice easy ride for that boat. Enjoy.

18 is under powered on there. I'd say 75 is a little too much.

Yep, I agree, a Vintage 35 should be just about perfect. John is Spot ON on the Transom Height for your motor. 20" Means a Long Shaft is required

Its PINK..... Would it be too bad of me to paint it a bright red or something? And did you see the trailer its a 1961 gator missing one hub cap otherwise in great shape......:S

I have that exact trailer. They are nice. Hubcaps sometime show up on Ebay but pricey. Make sure you ALWAYS load the boat with the trailer in TILT position. I would leave her PINK. She will be an EYE Catcher at the RAMP Not to many PINK boat nowadays. You WANT people to KNOW you have the only one like her!!!

I'd keep it pink unless the finish is really powdered from sun. I think the historical aspect of the pink is a real eye catcher. If you are going to have to put countless hours into restoring the pink finish, a coat of paint takes care of that in a big hurry.

dandawn,

if you want "eye candy", i'd go for PINK & trimmed in BLACK, as that is what mine was from the factory. -i'd bet that yours came that way, as that was stock.

fyi,i'm a bit of a fanatic for ORIGINAL when it comes to classic boats/cars/etc. BUT it IS your boat.

yours,satx

I gave a friend of mine one exactly like that as a birthday gift one year. It cost me $200. Man did we have fun that summer until we were going along wide open and the motor bracket broke. 1960 Johnson 50HP fell off. We were still up on plane as we watched the motor sink like a rock 50 feet behind us.

We marked the spot with a boat fender, but someone stole it.
