TOPIC: ? ABOUT REPLACING THE WOOD TRANSOM ON MY BOAT?

? ABOUT REPLACING THE WOOD TRANSOM ON MY BOAT? 12 years 2 months ago #65269

My boat has a damaged wood transom and it looks to be about 1" thick (two 1/2" plywood). My question is can i replace it with two 3/4" peices bonded together to make it stronger. There is a lot of damage to the part on the deck so i thought if i have to i can reshape the area of the fiberglass. Please see pix. thanks

I would think that would be an excellent idea. You can always trim it down if it's too thick, alot easier than trying to build up the thickness if too thin. Also, much stronger.
