I just got off the phone with him and he is going to txt me some pics later. He said its definatly a BB ford in it and the link boat only had an 88hp (I know, about right for a 460).

The problem might be that it comes with no title and in IL that can be a disasture. Luckily, he basically wants it gone so, if I can convince the wife, I might make the hr drive Sunday.

jetboat; john-gibson,

as best i can remember from the '60s (it was a LONG time ago!), Johnson/Evinrude/OMC never built an inboard over 17.5 feet OR built a boat with a big-block Ford engine.
(most of the I/O boats had a "marinized" Chrysler/Jeep v-6 that was 155HP.)

nonetheless, whatever brand of hull it may be, i wish that it wasn't so far away, as i think that that would make a REALLY STABLE (if "bouncy") PLATFORM for saltwater flyfishing & "livelining" BIG live bait for redfish, king mackeral, ling, etc.

i HOPE that someone saves it!

yours, satx

I can see the "Johnson" name and logo just above the gunwale amidships.

Old OMC. Neighbor had one at the lake, me a kid. Text...
Initially, in 1962-63, OMC introduced it's first boat, the innovative 17-foot, Harry Hillman-designed, modified catamaran hull (three-point), to showcase it's first sterndrive the model OMC 480, derived from the 2-stroke, V-4, electric-shift 75-hp outboard.

This hull remained in production thru the end of 1966, in sterndrive variations. After 1963, the "17" was marketed exclusively by Johnson dealers, in the USA and Canada.

It was no big block for sure. In later years, they used the Buick v-6 155 hp. My dad had a 69 Evinrude Explorer 16 ft. Cool rugged boat with the windshield near the front. It had over 6-feet of open floor space behind the front seats.
