I had asked this question around and some very good replies came out. One was getting some sound deadeners from the car hobby people and one of the ideas was to use a neoprene wet suit. My brother happened to have an Evinrude blue wet suit, that he claims appears to have shrank. I took it and carefully measured the 1/4" cloth backed neoprene suit, to cut it up to fit inside of the Evinrude. It fit in nicely, but the next time I am sure I could get it a little neater. Anyhow, it really helped to get the motor quieter. It has a deeper sound to it for one and doesn't sound as tinny. The conversation level is greatly improved. All in all, it was an experiment worth doing. If a person doesn't like it, it is also easily removed. I used 3M weather strip adhesive to attach it. All with the idea that it can be removed if the experiment failed. Silence can be golden!
