Hey guys, I have a 1959 60HP Flying Scott. I just got the starter back from the rebuild shop and come to find out now i have no spark. On the flying scotts where does the spark originate from? I traced it to the bottom of the generator. is that where it is all timed? Any info would be great. thanks

I have a 2 cylinder royal scott, the 3 banger Flying Scott has a belt driven Distributor, So it looks a lot like a auto ingition system. In the library here there is a downloadable copy of the service manual. Which I have. So, it would be checking the point gap at .015 , burned points, bad condenser etc. Download the manual at the library first. It helps a lot

If you have the large Generator type Ign you will find 3 sets of points in the bottom of it. Its still a batt powered system, ck your power to and from your points, coils. A wireing diagram should be inside your hood. post a pic of the engine.

Got this running today! It was a simple wiring mess up to the key switch. That engine has been sitting for about 7 years. It was running very rough and was grumpy (back firing and so) at first. Then after a little while of blowing all the crap out it was running great! This machine sounds BRUTAL! Now that this one is going, its time for the next one. I have another 1959 60HP Flying Scott identical engine sitting, its a little rough to start with but would be fun to have going also. Thank you everyone for the help. Ill let you know how the next one is going.

I ran one on an old rinkerbuilt 14' with a 75hp and a ajc120 michigan wheel and it toped out at 42 , But i would expect 35-38 mph, it depends on weight , ballance , engine height and of course the prop. One thing is for sure, it should get very good fuel milage. I allways use high quality oil and mid grade gas. I usuly get 1 hr to 5 gallons at wide open throttle, my merc 85hp though much faster gets about 1 hr to 9 gallons, my 125 is 15 gal. but it runs in the low 60s

I've got a distributor-fired Flying Scott 60 sitting I'm never going to get around to. It's been sitting in my barnfor probably eight years.

Also looking for a good Scott 60 or 75 powerhead in the Albany NY area. I need it for my Rambler Scott inboard I think a 2 cylinder 40 would work also. as the 60 was adaped with an aluminum plate and some cobbing... If anyone has a good usable powerhead around let me know.

Thanks
Jesse
