I am tired of the helm on my Glastron. It has a big nut that screws on the shaft to keep it tight to the dash. I can't seem to tighten it very well and now it is slopping around on the dash scratching the paint. I am looking for one that can bolt on. Any ideas? Does anyone make a new one? I am not willing to convert to tele type. How about a source for a used one? Donor boat in Michigan?

Thanks!

I had the same problem on mine. Ended up removing the nut and placing three large washers on the shaft then reinstalling the nut. That gave me a fresh set of threads for the nut to grab on to. Turned out the threads on the shaft were very badly worn. Of course that means you have to remove the steering wheel and the steering wheel shaft.
