This is an 18c model. They were made between 1959 and 1966. It should have a small aluminium plate that will have the model year & serial no. It looks like an early version as I see it has the wooden foot boards up front forming the bow floatation tanks. Another clue will be the nameplate but I can't see it well enough in the photo to judge.

jl_300,

GREAT FIND. - i once had a 1963 model in two-tone blue, with a pair of MK 800s, that i used to run on Lake of the Pines, TX.
(you're in for a TREAT, as that rig will FLY right on down the lake.)

warning: a 'CAT will pound the fillings out of your teeth in "the chop". - it's smooth-water rig "par excellence".

ENJOY, satx

Thanks for the info Danny, where would the ID plate be on this boat? I haven't been lucky enough to find it yet. And Satx that sounds really cool, thanks.

It should be on the inside of the transom in the water well
centered between the motors. If it turns out to be a very
early (1959-1960) there may not have been one as those ID
plates were not always used in those early years.

Also check out the Nameplate page linked above, If your
cat is like the top ones on this page then it is a very
early one.

There is no ID tag on the boat and here is a pic of the name plate.

The engines are original and the models are RDSL-21B. They dated to 1959. So im guessing the boat most likely 1959.

Well the nameplate would indicate a late 1960 model at the earliest, as Power Cat did not incorporate until late that year. What makes it difficult to say for sure is that often boats and motors could set in dealer inventory for several years before being sold. The 1959 motors could have been installed as brand new on the 1960 boat for a customer and no telling what year for sure. Remember the boat, motors, trailer, and often hardware and rigging was done by the dealers using the brands they had access to. So you see many variations of equipment on boats from the same era.

powercat; jl_300,

you are 100% correct. = Marlin M_________ (one of our local Mercury dealers in NE TX) was still selling NEW "dockbusters" to the Lake of the Pines/Lone Star Lake/Caddo Lake "hotrodders" when i was in college in 1967.
(those "new dockbusters" were anything BUT "factory stock".- never knew what his chief mechanic was doing to them, but they were "smoking HOT".)

i have GREAT memories of that "wild period" of "PURTY quite willing,bikini-clads" (mostly stunning Rangerettes & Apache Belles), skiing, racing, "white corn likker" & 24/7 partying on the lakes of NETX!
