Hey all. New guy here but not new to old boats. I used to have a 1972 Glastron V156. This was destroyed in a garage fire 2 years ago. This was an easy fun boat to have. Fish, ski, tube whatever. By the way, please everyone, get ALL of your vintage boats and motors valued and insured. I had "assumed" because I wasn't using my boat that year, that the home owners insurance covered everything. WRONG.
I now have a ??? 1968 ??? Checkmate V161 Ser#1475. At least that's what the title says. I was surprised to not find much info on this site about these. It's going to need some work. I don't know if it even floats. The hull looks good upon visual inspection. I have already, ah, misplaced the Johnny that was attached to the transom. I have a Mercury Mark 75/78 frankenmerk that will be replacing it. Yes, I am a Merc freak and proud of it. I'll be looking for some help with the fiberglass on this boat as it's visual appearance is pretty rough. The transom seems strong but there are a lot of holes in it from previous motors.
