...you know you have issues. Picked this up yesterday but haven't brought it home just yet. I've got to make it look invisible for my wife. Anyone know any tricks? Anyway the guy who sold it says it's a 1958 Sea King but I didn't see anything similar in the library. It's hard to see in the pix but there is a molded pass-thru seat up front and a second full seat also molded in back by the transom well. The title for the trailer says Alumna. Didn't see anything like that in the library. The fenders look like TeeNee wannabes. He says the motor runs but it needs a "pressurized" gas tank. What's that? Thanks for any insight on this. I'll start a new thread in member projects when I get going.

Welcome aboard.

The boat is really neato. Groovy lines. Cool fins. "Sea King" was the brand name used by Montgomery Ward. They did not make the boat. It was made for them by one of the established boat builders.

The motor hood is a 1957. There is no fuel pump in the motor, therefore air pressure is used to feed the fuel from the tank to the motor. If the seller has the pressurized tank, make sure you get it.

The Johnson motor stand also has some value.

Maybe it's an "Alloy" trailer? I can't see it clearly.

Andreas, thanks. I'll post better pix when I get it all home. Did Montgomery Wards have a short-list of approved builders or was it set out to open bid on a regular basis (i.e. low bid gets the job)? If that was the case then finding the actual builder would be somewhat of a crap shoot for someone like myself who doesn't know too many boats. I've already scolled down through Neil's "Awesome Boats" thread and didn't see anything ther either. Fantastic thread Neil! Thanks.

Might be a Barracuda by Talv.

The following photos, from a long ago ebay listing, are of what was advertised as a 1959 Barracuda:

Bob, I'm tending to agree with you that Andy has it right. I probably won't get it back here for a week or so but I will definitely post better pix when I do. Til then thanks.
