TOPIC: What am I working on? (That's not rhetorical)

What am I working on? (That's not rhetorical) 12 years 6 months ago #57068

I recently salvaged this boat after the tornado's in Branson, Mo. Any info on its year and model as well as value (potential or otherwise) would be greatly appreciated. Please pardon any incorrect terminology as I'm a complete greenhorn when it comes to boats.
It's a 15 foot "Imperial" and probably had a Johnson engine as throttle control has Johnson name. Found same throttle pictured on a 1958 manual. Boat has tail fins, was originally red or pink on top and has a distinctive "scoop" near stern. Please see pics below. Thanks!

Just a word of advice; Since your in Missouri make sure the boat is titled. If it is not you will never be able to get it titled in Mo. I have a bill of sale, gifting form, and previous registration. And allmost a year of trying they still won't give me a title.

Welcome aboard.

Pictures please!

Any manufacturer name and location on the boat in adddition to "Imperial." Is Imperial the name of the manufacturer, brand, model? serial number, hull ID, VIN?

Maybe a Glass Craft Imperial. Check out the link below for the Glass Craft page in the Library:

Thanks Andreas. Pics didn't load due to size limits. I'll try again later. I believe "Imperial" is a model name. It may be made by Chrysler. I haven't been able to find any serial numbers, VIN or hull ID. Where's the best place to look?

Look for ID on outside of transom, starboard side. Also look inside of transom both above and below the splash pan (if there is one). Under the deck, on the back of dashboard, under seats, etc...

Upload pictures to photobucket or something similar then cut and paste them into your message.

If it's a Chrysler, the following website may be of interest.:

Hey all!
Im Tims buddy Michael. Heres some pictures I took the other day of the boat.

The Imperial logos on the side is a perfect match to a 1957-58 Chrysler Imperial car. But Im beginning to wonder if those weren't added later. It appears to have been restored once before.

Here's a similar boat posted back in 2009. Looks to be the same manufacturer/model:

Hi HandyAndy! Thanks for the link. That's it! Same color on top too! But what is it? lol. Was it commmon for a boat manufacturer to put car logos on their boats or did 2 people have the same idea and tag it themselves??

Pics have been loaded and a link was added in another post which looks to be the same boat, but still no positive ID on it. Its gonna be a huge project since it's so stripped.
