TOPIC: I know its a Performer but need
I know its a Performer but need 12 years 8 months ago #55604

My wifes doughter bought this for me for Xmas. I need Model and year if you can help. I looked in the gallery and didn't see one like it.
Its 16 foot Now this boat did some freeway boating on the way home and did make a crack just in front of the windshield and took out 6feet of rivits back from the crack. Freeway boating is not fun when the boat comes off the trailer when it breaks at 55 on the second lane in on a 4 lane freeway. Anyway here are some pix of the boat Thanks Mike aka the pirate

The black side trim looks custom, I don't see it in any of the Performer literature. If it's 16' then maybe the Vagabond model, made 1960 to 1961. There was also a 15' Sportsman model those years as well. The following image is from a 1960 Performer brochure, which I probably borrowed off ebay a long while ago:

Mike, the pavement is not a good enviroment for boats. Sorry to see the damage. If you need help on parts for the motor I might be able to help you out. I have a 75hp Starflyte to part out. Lower unit might work for you.

I figued it to be 60 or 61 my self. The pic there are a little hard to tell if one of those are the same as what i have. I'm still waiting for the papers on it;

Hey, what a nice boat to see. We have a 58 or 59 can't remember what is on the registration. We are the second owners and it is all original except for some vinyl and the engine which was a 75 starflite but has been junked. Picked up and 88 spl with trim last year but we have a few boats for restore ahead of it.
I will take some pictures of it and get back here in a week or two. The boat is in dry storage in my fathers barn. |

Mike,
That's a Sportsman if I ever saw one, and I've seen at least 10 of them over the years. I even did a lot of work on one for a friend some years ago. When new, these had a little chrome script screwed to the left side dash that said "sportsman" and cast into the script was a shape of a fishing rod and reel. |

I'm just starting a renovation of a 1959 performer and need help.
I'm pulling the rotted ribs out and notice that they do not extend all the way to the sides of the boat. The wood stops about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the sides. Is this normal? Should I replace them the same length or cut the ribs to they touch the sides? Thanks to anyone who can help.
