TOPIC: Quick question.

I have a Teleflex cable steering. Has a really cheap plastic wheel on it. I have an opportunity to get an "vintage" wheel. My question is would an older wheel fit on a 3/4 inch tapered shaft set up. Or are the older wheels a different mount? THX Daniel

Forgot to mention the 'older' wheel is a teleflex also.

I think some details from your source would help. Ask for the inside dimention of the wheel hole and if it has a "key" slot. Is it just a bolt on wheel or does it have splines. Nothing is impossible to fit together if you really want it to work.
PS, I have an old rusty teak wheel if you're interested.

The shafts are the same now, as they were then. The only "real" different wheels were the Ride Guide (mercury) ones - they used a square hub to mate to a square shaft in the steering unit. Nearly all others used the 3/4" taper shaft with key.

Thanks Cal and Bruce. It is not a ride glide, so chanced are it willbe the same???? Well, for $20 it is worth a shot, might just have another thing hanging around for a while. Cal I might take you up on the teak one. But then I might have to put wood accents on this one like you did yours. I looked through your Herters forum.... Looks good. The wood trim got me thinking. I have a trashed dash that needs something. Hmm. Daniel
