I found this boat at a yard sale a few years ago.It was sitting under a mesquite tree and loaded with cactus from packrat nest, near the base of Superstition mtns. It's a 1957 Blue Marlin made by the Gordon plastics mfg. of San Angelo,Texas. If I get this picture to work I'll explain[the shame] on the next post. This boat has gone through some changes.

This boat was constructed with both the front and back seats molded to the deck. A previous owner wanting to sleep while he fished,"waterbed" cut the back of the front seat off and attached a sheet of plywood with hinges to the bottom,so that when it was layed back it was even with the bottom of the back seat. That wasn't enough, he drilled four large holes and with pvc pipe made it a fourposter bed covered with shade screen.Well to me that's a shame!

How is the structural integrity? You might have to beef it up some or the stringers. You can still make a nice boat from it. You have the excuse to make it what you want.

It appears they trimmed some off the dash too. The transom looks good ,it needs some stringer work in the back. I,ve thought of upholstered pockets in the cut out areas. Not a pimp ride, more of a Rat Boat.[pun intended]

Wow that is some serious previous owner damage. Too bad he didn't just buy the fishing boat he wanted. This is not the first time I've seen this kind of atrocity. Too many fiberglass boats without motors and trailers become unwanted eye sores given to anyone who will take them away. Then the new owner figures he did not pay anything for it, so who cares if it gets ruined. Sad. Good luck man! Looks like a worthwhile project.
