TOPIC: Johnson Golden Javelin 35hp

Went to California for christmas and came home with a load of outboards. The Best find was a 1957 Javelin. Although the hood has been painted over, it seems to be in pretty good shape. I'm going to go through the mag and try firing it up. If it runs and has fair compression, I will start the paint work. I like the 50's Evinrudes in general but not the Johnson's. This one is the exception. They do look nice painted up and on a boat!

Nice- That is a favorite motor of mine... I found one up near Chicago last year, and didn't hesitate to buy it! I think that they are one of the best looking motors out there.

I told my wife once it's restored, I'm going to keep it in the living room...

Cloud White?? as in 1960--61 400 Mercury 45 hp yes? I have one of those I'm preparing for paint. Not sure where I'm going to put it. i want to put it on my club Lido ( if I ever get title ).

Funny how many of us who generally prefer the mid century Evinrude designs, make that exception for the 57 and 58, White and Gold Johnson Javelins.

Funny that you mention that - I usually like the Evinrudes. However, the 56 & 57 Javelins are very sweet. Here is the hood of the unrestored Javelin I picked up last month

Hi. New to the forum. Mind if I ask a couple questions? How much did you pay for a hood like.that. would.you sell . It? I ha e a javelin I just picked.up in a package deal, haven't had.nor than 5 min to look at it. Got a lot of questions, to be followed later. Thanks.It's gorgeous.
