Jesse,
Cool find. I use to dabble in the RC boats and cars, way back when. For a motor I would look to a small chain saw or weed whip motor believe it or not. You can talk to the RC shop guys as Mopar said. Not sure if they're using stuff that big anymore or not. Some of the 1/4 scale guys use to use the chain saw motors in their airplanes. those two strokes can spin a good size prop.

I think it would be a gasser, for its size I got it from one of My RC friends, We fly alot of planes, Nostly electric lately, not much on the ground or water though. So I will eventually get it going.

Cool old boat!!

I'd do some checking before I did anything to it- A friend of mine found a boat something like that a few years back at a garage sale, and was going to repaint it and get it going as a RC toy, but when he brought it in to a shop, the owner recognized it as a VERY desirable collectors item- He ended up getting a couple grand for it, and used that money to buy a REAL boat :)

You have 2 choice,Gaz engine or electric engine. The best thing to do, it's to meet a specialist in RC hobby Shop ;)

Some years ago a friend of mine was into RC airplanes and built one that was huge. He was looking for a small two stroke.I had a first generation weed wacker by Homelite. The motor was down at ground level and the handle was the gas tank. I gave it to him and he was really excited. He said all the RC guys wanted that very engine. This was 20 years ago or so.

STASH.; Good DEAL,, If you like to fly planes,, the local club was out again today here in East Tenn , Sun 65 degrees. . My RC church friend has almost the same boat.(?) The box pic replica is of the 1955 Chris Craft Cobra.. Course the bow scoop could be differect & the tain Fin should be up straight,, BUT like the guys / members say , measure the LENGTH & give us the store feedback on year / value... Maybe we will see you on TV for American Pickers, or even PAWN STARS.!!

. My son did some racing with the GAS boats, sometimes very hard to start. so Electric now a days has merit.. & Quiet sound for neighbors..IMO

I'm into rc boats, they're a lot of fun. How big is the boat? It's very cool looking.

If not a Cobra, it is probably a model of a Ventnor. The unique stern looks like a Ventnor. Cobra's had a vertical fin.

Well I took a little while and washed this old girl, Shes big.. took up an entire regular bathtub.. I cant find a tape so you can judge from the pic. I dont know when I will get to this as I have 3 or 4 planes that need fixing for winter flying and my Utility racer and Mark35A apart in the basement so... I will get to it eventually :-) I think it needs a very large glow or a good Gas engine... Though with the size it is electric could be fun too.

Thanks for all the comments :-)

:-) It will be easy to get in the water just need to figure out what motor to go with all the servo's and radio gear are early AM Futaba models that will need to go, or I will just change the plugs.

Hi Jesse,
That looks great! That thing screams for a new brushless motor running LiPo batts! No mess, no fuss... Definitely looks like someone modified a Chris Craft Cobra kit...

I agree on both accounts a good brushless setup is in order. the prop is about 1.5 inches across so its fairly large and may need some updating as far as the drive shaft ect.. is currently a dog bone set up.
