TOPIC: Found G-3 for sale

It's been sitting off on the side of the hwy I travel for years now and I always thought it was some home-built inboard.. so I paid no mind.. the other day I pulled in to get a closer look.. wow a Glasspar G-3 ! no motor but on a trailer.. What year would this one be.. with the double cock-pit ?

G3 was introduced mid-year 1959 and had what is usually called the center deck design through 1961. Glasspar decals on the sponsons for 1959 production and no metal Glasspar logo on the support for the center deck. 1960 had the metal logo on the center deck support and no decals. 1961 was much the same as 1960 with the exception of a footrest built up on the floor up front where the 1960 models didn't have one. If you can get the serial number it will tell what year it was built as well as in which plant. Small chrome Glasspar logo with a window at the bottom with a hand stamped brass insert holding the serial number. Original location was left side interior right about where your left forearm would be if your hand was on the dash while sitting in the seat. Hope that helps you with a year ID.

..R.: Yes your yr range would be 59 - 61 with that center brace.. If the square id tag is missing or NO eviodence of two screw holes in side ,, It could be a 59 .. some of there factory serial #'s wee on round washers / disc under neath.!!

. Steering wheel locations in boats were the dealer installed choice of the 1st BUYER.. This pic is here of a 61 , Left or PORT side would match a LEFT -handed person , as a stronger arm to Move control the shift box...... More wheels are found on the right side for Right handed persons..

Looks likely the tag with serial number was removed to make mounting the controls easier...could have been moved to another spot or just tossed. Then again it could still be there and I just can't see it. Transom has been changed to accommodate a 20" outboard.

Looks like a great project to me. Sharp looking boat.

Great project... oh ya.. but the boat needs to have whatever paint they used removed.. looks like that paint did not like water. tomorrow i'll stop by and get a phone number... and we'll have a chat.

Looks like a fun project... ASSUME that it's going to need a new floor, stringers and transom- Odds are it does. Figure this into the 'negotiation'.
