That is a bit pricey, and the reserve has not even been met yet. One of the cooler Tonka's I have seen though.

That looks like a rare bird.

I grew up in Minnetonka, not more than 10 miles from the factory in Mound. Childhood highlight was a school field trip to tour the factory. Early 70's just before they ruined it all by going to plastic.

I collect the Jeeps which, oddly, are fairly good representations of the real thing. I love the J-Series Tonka Jeeps. I mostly like the 1/2 scale ones but I have quite a few full size ones too. All were my toys which I used, but kept in good condition.

Just yesterday I was at an Antique store where there was a 1959 Standard Oil tanker with the same cab as this boat delivery semi, but in red. A fellow was looking at it. I mentioned that my parents have that exact truck still in the box in their basement. (I was allowed to drive it around the living room only) He said that one with the box would sell for $650. Too bad childhood memories aren't for sale. By that scale, I'd say this truck, complete with boats, should be in the $350 range.

This truck and boats are were they worth right now. Used and no box really makes it lower priced. this seller always sets high reserves. Nice to see a complete set, but alittle rough.

Of course this...

is the "best" Tonka vehicle ever made! Maybe I'm a little biased.

In addition to the full sized one.....I do have onof these Tonka Jeepsters complete with the roof. The roofs are hard to find.

Most of my Tonka's when I was a kid looked like a truck and not some generic play thing with wheels. I wish I had them now. I donated them when I grew out of them. I liked the Buddy L line too. I have about a dozen Auburn Rubber trucks. They have their collectors too. When they started making them as unrecognizable as any certain truck they lost there appeal to me.

Here's the awesome Smokey bear hat you would get when you did the Tonka Factory tour.

It has the Tonka logo cast into the underside of the brim.

Found this at the swap meet here in seattle couple years ago....my g/f thought i was nuts when i saw it and sprinted over to snatch it up...:) exactly the same as the one i had back in 77. I got this one and my brother had a jeep .loved these things. also had a big dump truck that we would roll down the front yard in or sit in and hold on to our dalmations tail and get pulled around...lol kids.
