The company that made the paint I used on my Glasspar featured my restoration on their page-

Very cool Andrew, CONGRATS! I meant to ask you today what brand paint that was, it still looks new. Fantastic looking boat up close, looks as good in person as it does in the pics, my friends. ;)

Thanks.

I really liked the paint once I used it- It went on with relative ease, but is VERY hard and tough stuff... I've worked with a variety of different paints in the past- Both single part and two part, and found this to be a great balance between ease of application and longevity, at least so far. It is MUCH harder than any other single part I've ever run across, and it's the only single part that I've ever seen the manufacturer claim is suitable for long term submersion.

The application process was a bit more involved than some other brands, but the result was well worth it. I'll be using their products on my next boats, but may try one of their multi part paints next, as they claim that they are even better.

Sweet, that's awesome Andrew!!!!! Did you spray it? If so did you use an HVP gun?

It's nice to see a company like that pick a glassic to post a piece of info about there product. I goes a long way to say how good there product is and how good of a job you have done useing it. Keep up the great work you do and I am sure others as well as myself will be asking you for advice. Thanks for sharing, Skip.

Thanks...

Bob- I sprayed it with a 'cheap' HVLP turbine gun, An $80 closeout special. It did OK, but I'm looking forward to using some 'real' spray equipment on the next one now that I have a decent compressor.

The stuff brushes and rolls VERY well, too- If it's thinned properly. I had to retouch the motor well, and did that with a brush, and it turned out as good as the sprayed areas...

The company actually recommended that I try rolling and tipping the 2 part urethane.

It is nice that they have a beater like mine alongside the other yachts that they show on the page- I think it's more realistic to the do it yourselfer to see a boat like that there that was rebuilt in a driveway rather than all the bigger yachts that are on there- And the Queen Mary :) It's a bit easier to relate, I think.

And just when we thought things were going well!!! Now the paparazzi will be swarming all over Andrews house and we'll see him strolling the red carpet with Justin Beiber, Bruce Willis, etc. I'd lay money we see him on Dancing with the Stars in the next go round.

Seriously though, great job on the restoration and some well deserved recognition for all the hard work he puts into his boats and helping us all on the site.

P. S. Can I get an autograph.....
