i am a bit relieved ,someone asked if it was for sale, and ed and mom thought about it,but the fellow realized that we are in indiana,pa,he thought we were in indiana state,so it didnt go through.
it belongs to my mom and ed gordon(moms fiance),and its theirs to do with what they want.they were even going to give me a cut of it ,for the work i did on it,which is really nice.
but i would have missed it,heck we havent even gotten it wet yet,the motor needs hooked up.
so im sort of torn.ill leave it at that.john

Hilarious , when the heck did they move Indiana!!! You know it is a relief for me too. I hate the itchy fiberglass grinding. But I think another 8 hours and the worst will be done. And at some point my 58 will be painted and filled with cool guy stuff. And it will really be my boat. I hope I do it good enough so it can park next to yours proudly. Dave

I think you know a retired exterminator you could ask about mice. I have a dog who kills mice you know. They are no problem. I'd hate to see it go. What can I say.

It would have been a bummer not to get a ride first.

For generations we have been using moth balls to keep the mice and chipmunks out of the boats over the winter. Never failed, its part of the winterizing, a couple in each compartmrnt and 10-15 scattered around the floor. I picked up a GT160 one Nov, sleeting and dark the night I took it up to the lake. I just stuck it in the garage and headed home. The next spring when I went back up, the bow was stuffed with pine cone cores and the uneaten parts of the seeds. Took me half a day to vac it out, 1000's  Some wire has peanut oil in the insulation, mice love it!

I looked at a outboard once. It was an 60's 20 hp Merc and looked almost new. It was locked up. I took the cover off and mice had lived there for years. The whole powerhead was not salvageable. This guy wanted an arm and a leg for it. LOL Not me. I keep rodent proof bait stations out and check it often. Mice will quickly get used to mothball odor and just walk past it.It will keep bugs from doing much. Over the years I've treated more boats for carpenter ants than mice. They just tear up the flotation. Glue boards are great. Make sure you get ones that work in cold weather if it's not heated. The glue becomes stiff in most of them at low temps and won't work.

Hey Robert,

Breed that dog!!! Think of the possibilities!!! A true watch dog. He sees the burglar, barks at him, the burglar doesn't stop, the dog takes him out with a well placed round, no one ever tries to break into your place ever again. You should get a sharp reduction on your home owner's policy for having that level of security.

John, your thread has gone to hell in a hand basket but I have to chime in also and say that I have had a case of "scope eye". Trust me on this one...IT HURTS!! And you look pretty foolish for a couple of weeks too.
