I fell asleep in front of the TV the other night and when I woke up, I was watching a movie called "Tammy Tell Me True" (1961)with Sandra Dee. She lived on a canal somewhere down south. The first thing I saw was someone driving away in a glassic cruiser. According to IMDB, this may have been her boat. No idea what it was. There was also a runabout that I wasn't able to identify for certain, but it looked a little like a Larson.

Any other movies or TV shows with glassics?

OK, we all know about Flipper with the 70s Thunderbirds. that doesn't count.

"Sea Hunt" with Mike Nelson (AKA Lloyd Bridges). He had an inboard wooden cruiser. But I have seen other classic fiberglass and wooden boats in episodes.

James Bond used a fiberglass Glastron outboard to jump over an isthmus in ????

"Some Like It Hot" has a wooden inboard runabout.

Lots of 'Clambake' was filmed at the Miami Marine Stadium. Too bad they blue-screened so much of the "action"...

I also got a kick out of Chrysler having provided boats and motor for the shop...

Well even though this is an old post, i ran across these. Miss madason, late 90s story about the yearly hydro race in madason IN in the 60s, Or how about the 1960s Cape fear, it had a flying scott 60hp in it as well as some small fishing motors. and there was a jerry and dean movie with a nice woodie and a small hydro with a mk 55H, You know with all of us liking old boats you would think some one would make a good movie with them

I'm watching some old sci-fi movies on TCM today. In the begining of the movie The Snow Devils (1964)

There is a guy hot doggin' his boat at a small marina for a girl on the dock. After almost hitting a dock he takes off. The boat he was driving looked like "Flo's Runabout". As the girl is walking away from the dock there are 2 bubble tops that look a lot like the Mechanics Illistrated Wonderful Car Boat but with 2 fins.

to ALL,

in FLIPPER on '70s TV, there was at least ONE weekly show, where a 22' PACESETTER fiberglassic INBOARD UTILITY was used by "the bad guys" in a couple of chase scenes.

the PACESETTER had a 396CI converted Corvette with dual 4 barrels and was made built by hand in Waco, Texas.

that big utility/runabout, for a couple of decades, belonged to Dr. Steven Nicks, MD of Dallas County, TX. - i've, since the late 1990s, lost contact with him/the boat.

that was PROBABLY the ONLY time that a PACESETTER was ever on TV, as PACESETTER OF TEXAS was of our 50+ SMALL/independent/semi-custom boatbuilders, that mostly built "on order" for a particuliar customer.
(Pacesetter built, at one time or other in wood lapstrake, fiberglass & a FEW (commercial fishing hulls) in welded aluminum.)

yours, satx

There's a couple of good ones no one has mentioned yet, great boats but short clips;

"Bandits" with Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton has a Lone Star Meteor in a scene maybe half way through in which the bandits are walking up the drive to sleep over at a bankers house. It is in the drive parked between some classic cars. I've talked with the owner who said that they were filming in his area and saw it parked at his place and just loved the boat so they asked to borrow it.

Also, the movie "Earnest Saves Christmas" includes a Red Fish Shark Capris. The bad girl steals Santa's magic bag and hides it in the nose of the boat, which is parked behind the house. Pretty interesting to see it in that movie.
