TOPIC: GOTTA FIND MORE SPACE!

friends & fellow FIBERGLASSIC fans/fanatics,

i was recently given a one-owner 1958 GLASSPAR TRIDENT on a 1958 DILLY trailer, by a nice young man from near Austin, TX, whose late grandfather bought it new.

"Rick" says that he can even get the title & registration for me from TxP&WD, as soon as he has time to go to Austin to pick it up!
(the Trident & trailer were last registered about 5 years ago.- "Rick" received the boat/trailer by bequest. SADLY, the original '58 Johnson OB is "long gone".)

NOW, i need to find:
1. a LONG-SHAFT 1958 OMC OB to match,
2. a proper windshield
("Gramps" threw the one away that came with the boat! = !@#$%^!)
and
3. someone who has original seat/upholstery patterns OR "really good pictures" that can be duplicated, so that it is re-done "correct".

comments/advice/product information/ideas/locations/etc are welcome.

NOTE: since i retired, i keep "stumbling over" OLD (SOME really old. - i found a 1920s Johnson last week, which has since been sold for "peanuts".) boats/motors/trailers here in south TX. IF you are looking for something, i'll try to help, as this "restoration addiction" is a "cooperative & group effort".

Nice- We need pics, though! Tridents are pretty cool boats.

I can't help you with a motor- all mine of that age are short shafts...

I did run across these guys on E-Bay, though- It'd look nice on there-

i don't even OWN a camera & would NOT know how to post pictures if i had one - i'm really a rank beginner at computers.- will try to find one & some "PC help", when i actually HAVE the boat/trailer at my place.

NOt mandatory to keep the same year motor.. By mid to late 60's , companies offered bigger , more reliable sizes like the Merc 65 Hp series, that were sold by the ton .

actually to me, the correct year/type OB or pair of OB is required.
(i'd like to find a matching pair of '58 big twins.)

addendum: until i can find a suitable pair of Big twins, i may pick up any good-running 35 or 40 OMC OB.- i don't understand mercs & don't want to relearn everything i know OR buy a pile of special-purpose tools.

Those twin 35's on Ebay would be sweet on there. Of course I'm partial to the Rude Fat Fifty's because I have one. They aren't real fuel efficient but have torque like crazy and the Jubilee motors look great IMHO.
