TOPIC: Who Wants A Cheap Dorsett?

It's that time of year. I talked to this guy in S.E. Wisconsin about an old (1965?) Dorsett Catalina. Boat only, no trailer or motor. Needs work but it looks to be almost all there.

Started at $1200, he offered me the boat today for $100. Wants it gone by winter, which might be this week!

Great deal but I have exhausted my wife's patience already, so can't do it.

Maybe someone can use it?

I have it now. It was a great road trip even though we were rushed for time. I only had one day to play. Del VanEmmerik came with as the expert boat retreiver. We didn't have to put his emergency skills to the test but he excelled on the planning. The transom was as bad as I could imagine without having it ripped off the boat. It would not have made it a mile with a motor hanging on it. Not a problem. My assortment of boats is complete. Now the real work starts.

I'd love to come and take a look see at her someday.

It is in Wisconsin now. I don't know yet when it will get to Minnesota. I hope it won't take me too long. Much planning to do.

I too am looking for a Catalina 17, but need to find one much closer to the Pacific Northwest. Keep us posted on your restoration... I am very interested in watching your progress!
