I just had to share this. I am a high school teacher, social studies. Some of my students volunteered to make me some new parts that go to my boat controls. They have an engineering class. It isn't a very good pic, but the white ones are the new and the dark were the busted up ones. Took them less than one class period to do it.

Hey Kewpie,

Isn't it amazing what some of the younger people can do and in how short a time they can do it. I assue they are using some sort of computer controll mill to make those parts. Please share more on this with us - its very interesting.

I had a machinist make me two control cable ends for a Northwest controls box in my Starcraft. He did a fantastic job and for what he did I suppose the $60 per piece he charged me wasn't too bad. My only real issue was it took 6 weeks until he could get to them. That was 6 weeks of the boat being out of the water in the middle of the summer.

I hope there's jobs for those young men in that field in your area. They'll do well. Thank you for sharing.

That cool!

We had a plastics class at the jr. high school I went to. We did projects with fiberglass, expandable beads, poly-resin casting and plexiglass. Back then it was one of the many shop classes offered, should have called them engineering classes, they might not have been canceled.

They look very similar to the plastic bushings in a Ride Guide steering system helm. Very cool, they're helping restore some history!

They are members of the engineering program project lead the way. They have a laser engraver they are trying to get some time on, they keep asking if they can engrave something for my boat. I'll have to brainstorm on that.
