Do I need to use a special type of tubing for my speedo pitot.
I want to replace it , and original stuff seems to have a pretty thick wall..1/8" I.D.???

Fantm, it's thick wall because the speedo reads minute amounts of (air) pressure from the pitot. If the hose bulged a little, it would throw off the reading. There may be something acceptable as a substitute out there, but the right stuff is pretty reasonable in price. (Even if you have to buy a pitot with the install kit, it's good to have a spare IMHO) I get mine from Joe and Irene at Ferguson-Poole marine. ;)

Buy the install kit and use the correct stuff. It's not that expensive

These thing only have a few Inches of Water Column of pressure (InWC) on them. At sea level it takes a bit over 27 InWC to equal 1 psi.

A bulged in the line would not effect the reading at all...it would just react slower. one can have many meters on one pilot tube. and get the reading however for each meter added the reaction time wound be slower.

Water in the tubing does away with the buffing effect that the line full of air gives one, and if the line (tubing) is full of water all the way to the meter, the reading will bounce with each wave.

Drip irrigation line works great. Jut be sure to get the stuff that isn't too stiff. It is available all over the place.
