OK well there is nothing new at this time but I thought I would notch out a message thread early-on.

As with the old forums, I should be posting updates on the Borum Boats 1969 Sea Camper Saga as they happen.

However, so that no one clicked here to see a pending work I will start it with a sort of Video farewell till spring it's a montage of the years progress, other seacampers and where I left off in October with work on the boat.

2010 should be the finishing year for the SeaCamper Lord Willing.

I distinctly remember seeing flames in what appears to be a boat hull or a boat top.

Oh, that? :P

That was the old head liner from the boat and I ended up not disposing of it after all. I put it into storage to make a plug later. Not sure if I will copy it or not. I want to put a wood headliner in the boat. But just in case that does not work out, I still have it.

I was thinking???? A boat Burning

I am sure I did not burn any boats in that video. LOL

But that is not to say we cant chunk a volume or 2 of Catcher In The Rye, Marry Shelley, Melville or an Edward Gibbon or 2 on a stack of wood and have a beer and talk about the terror of global warming.

I have the terror of global warming right here. It's going into the single digits tonight. And all on top of 25 inches of fresh snow. If Jimmi Hendrix were alive al gore would be after him for burning guitars. LOL

I saw one of these for sale. it was in very good condition. I wrote the number down. It is disconnected now. I am going to ride down that way next week and take another look. I like these.
Keep up the great work. Nice save. You can go to a boat show and sleep right on the dock. I love it !!

I know,, I was just making light of the fact that it's not well understood that it's the only way to get rid of them in rural areas where there is no local land fill access. Just roll up the left over glass like a carpet afterward, dig a hole and put it out by the oak tree is all you can do. :(

Same with those damn old truck caps you can't even give away. Plus those worthless plastic bedliners.

Thanks, I am a member of the Sea-Camper Gang over at Yahoo. No one gets one by they don't see over there. I have had 2 at one time but only for parts. This boat is not going to be a go faster for me. I want to take my time, have the money in hand and do it as right as a customers project. It's # 23 and I want to approach it's restoration with a meticulous respect. This is why it's not been a quickey thus far.... :)

hum...is it against the rules to talk about our SeaCamper that's for sale? I haven't been able to find any online that are in original and excellent condition, and I wanted to let people know about it.

This thread is 5-1/2 years old!

We have a "Glassifieds" section on this site. The ads are free. That's where you need to list your boat, not on the forum. You have a nice Sea Camper but I think $28K+ is wildly optimistic. Anyway, good luck selling.

Thanks for the tip. I did see that the thread is old, but it is about SeaCampers, so I thought I'd try. I'm curious. ..how much do you think is realistic for a rare boat in this condition?

I've been half-looking for a Sea Camper myself. They may be scarce as far as finding them for sale but they're not all that rare. Also, they appeal to a very limited segment of the boat-buying public...the age and design being the determining factors. (My wife thinks they look like a loaf of bread.) From what I can gather, originality is totally unimportant to a lot of the owners. The interiors scream tacky 1970's appointments and most are "restored" with a lot of customizing, which is exactly what I would do.

I ran across one last year that looked really nice (at least from the outside) that was listed for $16,500...the highest price I've seen. I have no idea if it sold or for how much...but I was uninterested at even half that price. Most of the "fixer-uppers" go for between $500 and $2,500...at least that's what they're asking.

To get anywhere near what you're asking, you'll need to find someone who wants a Sea Camper in a big way...and is willing to part with the money in this failing economy. It's a buyer's market, assuming you can find a buyer at all. Most boat buyers are becoming "wait-and-see-ers."

Unless you really need the money, you might do well to play the wait-and-see game yourself, rather than sell at what you would consider to be a loss. In any case, good luck!
