Can I install a tach on my motor ? if so how and what type will I be looking for ? I want an oem one if possible !!

Fantm58, If you where to look in the library here, you might get a look at one, personaly I have never seen a OEM, on the otherhand I would think you could use a 4cycle tach set on 8 cyl, 8 because its a 2 stroke and fires every revolution vrs every other. so atleast you might be able to find a vintage tach that will work.

And whats so hard about finding a merc tach? I have 6 of them....lol

Just looked through a 1960 Johnson accessories catalog and they don't show a tach...my assumption is that will hold true for the Evinrude line as well. Airguide did make instruments for baoting at that time. Airguide model 653 would be the one to look for. You'll need both the gauge and the sender. Picture from the 1960 Airguide catalog section for tachs.

wanna sell me one???gotta be an airguide that works with a merc 700... no cdi ignition.
