Dos 300's.
Now if these boys had their wraps on, this would make an awesome calander shot!
But they are happy just to push this Seafair Sunliner around all day.

Twin 700's.
There is just something about a white motor with a black wrap.
Especially in stereo! :)
Nice.

Well if you like twins you will really like triplets, My powercat has 3 1963 Merc 1000s. More fun than a Barrel of monkeys. But I guess this is about twins so How about this 1961 Hydrocraft Fantasy with twin 1964 75hp McCulloch I am currently building. I can't wait to drive this one.

Nice triplets are pretty rare, I'd suppose quadruplets aren't to be found.

Hello, World!!

Re:Twins 13 years 1 month ago #43063

Ken,
There are pics of the chrysler race team running a boat with 4 105hp chryslers but thats about the only one I have ever seen. As for my 18c Powercat, Danny Leger tells me that this is the only one in the world today still alive and well. I had hoped to refinish the motors this year but my shop is so busy I don't have the time.

MFM I have seen shots of that triple Power Cat. That would be a hoot.
I would love to see some more pics of the Hydrocraft. I have one. Mine is the 15 footer.
For all who read, this should be turned into the twins or more thread.
Bring em on guys.

Re:Twins 13 years 1 month ago #43082

Neil,
My Fantasy 15 is the catfish nose version and is very rare. Most were the pointed nose ski boats that are around today. I will post some pics when I had it rigged with twin 1958 Mark 78s Ya a 12 cylinder hydro. As for my Powercat, Ron featured it in the august 2011 calendar last year and I am doing a write up about it for the Powercat website. I do love Powercats and I make all the new decals for the boats today for the Powercat guys. Last year I came accrossed a Magnolia cat with twin 800 mercs but after doing some background on it found out it was originally rigged with Twin Flying Scotts so its going back to that. The transum was total shot so it will need a lot of work before it ever sees the inside of the museum. As you can see. I came to work one morning only to find the weight of the motor had torn the transum right off so that is some rotten wood to say the least. The funny part is it just fell to the ground softly and didn't hurt the motor at all.

Nothing like the sound of Mercs singin in sync

I love my twins, I feared double trouble & twice the fuel but I am finding that I actually am using less fuel, I think....
I have not setup the GPS yet to monitor the mileage Im actually using on a tank of gas to calculate the fuel consumption

anyone else notice this, I think my MK55A was working too hard by it self on the Crosby

Yes it is the same boat , thanks....shes in mockup stage , I will finish her this winter with an epoxy paint job

I have been meaning to ask you did you ever restore the MK55 long shafts or did you just use them for parts

That was the Sheriff boat wasn't it, it has the twin spot lights as well as twin engines? very cool.

I haven't done a thing with those motors except rob them for parts...lost a prop nut.
