Hi All,
Is there anyone near Baltimore that could take a look at my boat to give me some advice on just how to approach what gel coat to fix or repair and what to leave alone? The boat has never been painted, deck or hull. Currently my trailer is in parts so if you could come to me that would be best in the short term. Thanks in advance.

Are you looking to fix gouges or holes?
or trying to get the original to pop?
Overton's has some Fiberglass repair things you can look over ...

guess you need to give a bit more info on what the problem is...

Hi Matt.
Mostly trying to get the original to pop. With the exception of me replacing the hardware with "as new" stuff, this boat has never been altered in any way that I can tell so I am strongly leaning towards Not painting anything. I'll check out the Overton's stuff for sure. Thanks.

Shipster,
I guess it depends on how bad it's oxidized. If there aren't any cracks or gouges then I would wet sand it. How low you go depends on how bad it is. Start at maybe 1000 grit, then 1500, then 2000 if it's oxidized good. If it's not that bad maybe just rubbing compound, then polishing compound with a posher. Can get them cheap from Harbor Freight if you don't have one. I live down in Southern Maryland Tall Timbers area. Not sure when I could get up hat way. Where exactly are you? Drop me a line to my profile E-mail.

Bob
