TOPIC: need help with boat

i have a boat that i need info on what i have is a model number and it says atlas traveler ...how can i learn what year the boat is and is it a classic boat

Welcome aboard. If you have some pics that helps alot. I didn't see Atlas Traveler in the Glassic Library, where all have you looked so far? Andreas(thompsonboat) is the Glassic research Guru so to speak. He'll probably chime in here at some point.

Americraft Corp. of Chicago made fiberglass pleasure boats called "Atlas" for a very short time period. They had a manufacturing operation at Antigo, Wisconsin for about one year 1958-1959. I do not think they ever had a factory in Chicagoland.

I have one or two newspaper articles about them starting their factory at Antigo. I have one ad from a boating magazine from the 1959 time period too. That's it. I have never seen any literature, price lists, photos of boats, or an actual boat.

I don't know if this is the "Atlas" you have in your possesion, but it is a possibility.

Another possbility is "Arkansas Traveler" made by Southwest Manufacturing Corp. of Arkansas. They eventually dropped the "Arkansas" reference and became Traveler Boats. There are some brochures in the Library section here on this website.

The boat is a Traveler brand and Atlas model. Fiberglass lapstrake hullsides. I guess 1963 to 1967 model year. No post 1962 brochures in the Library here.

Traveler ceased making boats circa 1967 as far as I can understand.

My name is Ralph and I also am trying to find info on my boat.
I have a 1965 Dorsett Santa Clara and I can not find any info on this boat. Can anyone help me with this. I am restoring my boat and trying to find place to get parts for it, but having no luck. Any help would be great.

Welcome aboard. Better to start your own thread on Dorsett than attaching to this one.

Have you looked in the Libraray her on this site? Plenty of Dorsett stuff there. Lots of Dorsett owners lurk here as well.
