I am a new member to Fiberglassics, and I have a 1968 MFG Niagra my son and I have been tinkering with this summer. We found it, the 1968 Gator trailer and 1968 Johnson 40 electramatic on the side of the road and fell in love. We DO have the "anything old disease" as I have seen in some threads...
I am also very happy to see so many poeple not afraid to put a little work into something. So many mechanics and marina owners have been telling me that it ( the boat/motor) isn't worh fixing...
My most vexing problem at this point is we can not find a windshield (new or otherwise) to fit our yaght. I am not ruling out the need to probably fabricate, but I am not sure of the proper material. Also I would much rather have original, or at least made for me as I am afaid i will have more than one attempt.

Yes, but just think of the fun you'll have towing someone's brand $20,000+ Bass buggy in for a fraction of the cost. I've towed a few pretty expensive boats in with my 58 MFG. Windshields can be had but may be a pretty penny.

Thanks Mr 88, but my MFG is only 60" wing to wing... those are for 17' MFG's ( i think). That's my luck though. There is a truck load of NOS windshilds and they are all too big.....
Jon Sob, that was a very interesting site. Lots of ideas!!!! But I can't get side tracked.. i thought the plexi had to be heated to bend. I will look into local polycarbinate at 1/8" not sure if i am comfortable with the strength though. The windshield that was on it was 3/8" and 1/8" might not fit the molding well. If I get thicker will I run into having to heat it? And how to do that without scorching. Still trolling the internet. And hoping to find something here...

The ones I have are 70" tip to tip, but they say 16' MFG on them.

If you are local to the Buffalo area, bring your boat by and we'll try one out...
