I got it home yesterday.
Main engine runs fine, contrary to the auction description.
Kicker has a bent throttle cable ran out of time to fix that today, but it will run fine too.
Tows great, galvanized EZ Loader roller trailer.
So far so good.
Has the real glass tilt lock windshield, and a factory installed electric windshield wiper.

Nice score Bill! Around $550 with the BA fee isn't bad at all with all you got, IMHO.

Yes, $511.50 for the package, $118.00 to title/register the boat/trailer. Both engines start and run fine on the hose.
The floor seems ok, you can feel a bit of flex but only between stringers. Transom seems ok. I'm sure there's some damage in them but she seems sound enough to launch. Zipping out the floor isn't too bad of a job, I was more worried about the core since these are cored hulls. Very solid hull below waterline with the core.
Will launch her with the present motors.

Very nice pair of motors too.
Looks about 1980 Evinrudes?
Are they the same year?

Yes, the Evinrudes are both 1985 so they are prop shaft rated horsepower.
Fired right up. The kicker took 3 pulls, the cord is a bit stiff.
Will be interesting to see how the 70 pushes her.
The propeller is a 13 3/4 x 15 pitch, should be a 2.42:1 gear ratio, so calculated top speed is 24.9-26.4mph acc to the calculator at www.rbbi.com .

Launched her in saltwater.

Twas foggy on the water, so didn't run her long.
The 70 popped her up on plane no problem, she sliced through her own wake and the swells nicely.
Actually I was surprised as I was doing at least 20mph when I sliced through them, no pounding at all.
But again, it was a quick test. Didn't check speed with gps and my tach is not working so didn't take any data, but will next time.

Was hard to see out there and some crab fishermen were turning back toward the dock so I brought her back in.
Just wasn't safe when up on plane making time.
But, she floats. She goes.
Plan is to launch her Sunday and take her for a 5 mile run to the lagoon near my house, and beach her to use next week while friends are up visiting from New Mexico. We'll take her in and out on the high tide, so she'll get the full test. She'll go crabbing too.
Here's some pics to prove she got wet!
My dog Ty went along for the ride. He approves.

Anyone else have pics of their Dorsett to share? Floating or on trailer or blackberries is fine.

Nice Job Bill - Good to see Mom out also ! Good to see you with another Dorsett especially one that can go in the water LOL . We'll have to do a Hope or Skagit Island run before the weather turns. After the 27th I'm back to my normal days off again .

Added tilt n trim today.
Will be much easier to beach/launch/retrieve now.

I had the CMC tilt/trim bracket sitting in the garage, so on she went. Steering, control, electric cables were all long enough. I had to notch the aluminum trim so that the bracket was flush to the transom. While I did that I pulled up the trim and noticed that Dorsett glassed the top end grain of the transom plywood.

Today did the first trip in the 66 Dorsett San Juan 18.

Didn't have time to get a new tach, but was doing 26mph on the gps.
I never tried full throttle, was choppy out anyway so trimmed the bow down slightly for a more stable ride.
No pounding at all, rides a lot better than some other cabin cruisers I've owned.

I had just enough water to get into the inlet to my lagoon, scraped bottom a couple times and I think bumped a rock on the keel. I hope it was the keel. At low tide in the morning I'll rock her over side to side and look. Evinrude ran perfect. Both of them.

First pic is heading from the dock in Penn Cove to round the first point.
Second pic is 26mph cruise, notice how flat the wake is.
Third pic is entering the inlet to Race Lagoon.
Fourth is looking back at entrance, notice motor is tilted up to avoid damage!
Fifth is my helper waiting at the base of the stairs where she's gonna beach.

Some pics of her beached at low tide this morning.
I careened her side to side to check for bottom damage. Found a little gelcoat scratched.
She's not going to be a trailer queen, I guarantee that.
It's kind of different for me to own a white boat, I'm accustomed to Skagit boats which are always multi-colored.
