I'm a new boat owner, thus new to this site too!

Last week my son and I purchased this 1958 Larson (says so on the title). We haven't found any markings on the boat itself other than "Custom" on the steering wheel. I've been looking online for a boat like this, or one similar to identify it, but no luck.

Anybody know what this might be?

Thanks guys!

I have to agree, it looks like the bottom photo. It's a lovely boat, no matter the maker.

Too bad there isn't a color pic. My son and I were thinking hull/deck in Almond, topside in Aqua for a fall paint project.

Any suggestions for smoothing out the deck? There are a few low spots from previous cosmetic fixes, but we're not sure how to proceed.

CONGRATS .D.: On your 56 - 60 GLASSPAR DEL-MAR model.. However
Larson bought out the company in 68.. so you have some history there.. Also your front glass windshield is actually a 53 Studebaker rear window..!. Other members here have them . BOBO is also in your region, with one or two.. Commander in the NOrth West has custom restored a few with two tone paint..

. Can search prior posts up top on the tool bar. good Father /Son project . What size HP is the Johnson on the rear.??
One of the early founders of this fiberglass movement , Brian fenwick had a mint light green Del-Mar that won a very big award I believe in the Lake tahoe show years ago, & maybe sold in the $ 10 K region.?

The more I read, the more I find about these vintage boats!

My son found it on craigslist locally for $450...boat/trailer/motor. The owner's widow hoped she would get a buyer who "would be young and excited to have fun in her husband's baby." I believe she's right in those hopes. She said that he'd had it for over 25 yrs. and would take it up to Alaska for a couple months every summer before he became too ill to leave the house.

The Johnson is a 55hp in excellent condition. This will be a Mother/Son project. I used to take my son fishing in a 14' johnboat loaned out to us when we lived in northern Wisconsin when he was little. I think we have a future of boating memories to make with this one.

I think I can hear groans of disappointment from those eastern boaters out there. Seems these boats are rare finds back there and pricey, but west of the Mississippi they seem to be easy to find and very reasonable. I can't speak for everyone who's found one, but I'm sure not every boat is in this fine shape.

Thanks for the tips, we'll check them out and see what will work with our budget and time.

Diane
