I'm in the process of taking the fish apart for restore/custom. I need to put in a new transom and am separating the topside from the hull. I have the strips off, fin ends off screws out, rivets ground off but now I find that there is two sided sticky tape holding the halves together also. How can I get that stuff to loosen up?
Another thing, what were the original colors of those boats? I'm finding white, red, blue, black, black spatter, gold pin stripes. Some really cool black spatter with dark blue accents and gold pinstripe found under the front cowl.

I'd try a heat gun and a putty knife?

I used a putty knife that I sharpened a little bit on the grinder. I held it at an angle and then tapped it along the length of the boat with a hammer between the layers. My 58 was just black and white.

I was thinking the heat gun route, will try it and let you know. The tapping just gums up the putty knife and sticks back together. The heat gun and wood blocks to keep it separated.
Thanks for the quick replys
