my boat came new with a 1959 mercury 300, 3 cyl.45 horse. i have the orig. motor is there a source for parts for this power plant?

There are several good resources for old Merc stuff, this link has an excellent reference for serial numbers to year models and HP ratings, as well as some parts available;

For starters, your motor is a 4-cylinder, 1960 model year of 35 horsepower. Makes a difference, as the 45 horse models were a different displacement, different carbs...
