i received an airguide clock i had been lookin for from brian l. he had one that didn't work and gave it to me..free. i got a price of $30 plus shipping to re-chrome it. great deal right! then i received this email from a company that repairs old clocks....

Hi Ron

Well......... I think you maybe better buying a new one.
Tony would have to take it apart, clean it, rebush, make any part that's
missing, re assemble and test. That would run approx $300-$400

YEAH RIGHT...i'll send it right away

Hi Ron - if you aren't going to use the Airguide clock, please return it. There are folks that will spend the money to get it repaired.

Thanks,

Brian

That is just a 7 jewel 8 day car clock. Can you get a pic of the movement when you get it back? Unless it has been dropped and the staff broken, all it could really need is a cleaning and/or a mainspring. I would send you over to the NAWCC board but, same as here, without pics no one will be able to ID the movement. I am sure airguide didnt make it.

I'm sure somebody has a movement sitting in a drawer. There just isnt really any demand for them except for a few restoration projects.

As an example, I recently sold a WWI british airplane 8 day clock with all the correct markings on the case for 67.00 in running condition.

Find out the info on the movement and we will go from there.

Just to be clear, this is what we are talking about and not the chiming marine clocks they sold for large ship use, correct?

Yes, that is what it looked like. I got it from Brian, took pics for Ron, and delivered it personally to Ron a week ago today.

You need to go to a local family owned jewelry store that does watch repair. NOT clock. This is a plain jane pocket watch movement. A clean and oil with both <yes it has 2> mainsprings replaced should be around 100 tops.
