I completed the motor transplant late last night, and got the steering rigged this morning. I'm going to call it DONE for now.

As ANYONE who has restored a boat knows, there is never really a 'Done'.... I've got countless little things here and there that need attention- But those can wait. After almost 2 years of work, I'm ready to get this girl in the water, and USE it!

The middle, aft facing folding seats aren't installed- I need to re-engineer them a bit. The mechanisms that Glasspar used were pretty weak, and they have worn out even further over the years. I am going to have to add to them a bit, to strengthen them up. But, that can wait.

Here she is, with the 'new' Merc 850- Excuse the mess, I haven't given it a bath yet :)-

And, Here is the new helm... With some slight modifications, I was able to re-use the chrome bezel and old wheel with the rotary steering-

She's a pretty good looking boat, In my opinion... Of course, I'm a little biased...

Looking a little better than before-

So, Who is coming to the launch party??

Thanks... It's going to be nice.

The new 85 HP is plenty of power- possibly a bit more than I should have put on (it had a 50 HP before), but the price was right. I know that the transom was built stronger than original- And, it doesn't weigh much more than the old 50 did... So, It shouldn't be a problem. If it is too fast, I'll just avoid WOT!

I think it needed the color change, too- Citations look great in red.

I should have the 'stuff' I need to hit the water Thursday. I already know it floats... We'll see if the rest of it works now :)

I plan to take a short break from boat restoration- Looks like I'll be heading back out on a ship for a while, to refill the bank accounts. Then, I'm putting some time into my '66 ford truck, to get her in better shape. Then, I have to decide which boat to tackle next- Will it be the Lake N Sea, or the Volksboat??? Hmmm....

Here is a link to the info I have posted on my site-

www.agott.com/glasspar/rest7.html

I used Supermarine Revolution paint- So far, I'm impressed. Red is a PITA, but the paint did well, and cut & buffed BEAUTIFULLY.
