I plan on finally re-doing the trailer for my CC this fall. The trailer was custom set up foe the boat when it was new in 1964 and has all the original features. I have got original lights working, but they are sketchy at best. I was wondering if there is a way to retrofit new LED lights into the old fixtures? Has anybody tried this yet? Any thoughts?

If they are a standard base bulb, there are a few companies out there that make LED lights that plug right in- I know that I can get tail lights, etc for my '66 ford... Just look up the bulb number on google, along with LED conversion, and you'll find 'em...

I still haven't done the trailer project yet, however, the original lights are finally completely shot and I need to upgrade. The plan was still to use the original fixtures and convert them to LED. Yesterday I was at West marine and bought the cheapest LED light they had and decided to give it a try. LO and behold, it fits in the existing socket perfectly! So I gutted the rusted part, cleaned up the fitting and away we go. Now to figure out the tail light.

Good work Todd, great idea. Someone recommended these guys for replacement bulbs too;

I think the tail lights would be an 1157 bulb, they make an LED replacement if you wanted to go the same route as the markers.

I didn't retro-fit mine but replaced the whole light with LED ones and I can't say nothing bad so far. They are bright and I have not had to replace any as of yet. I went through regular bulbs like a change of a shirt it seems.
