TOPIC: You Guys Like Pictures Right?

Ok this should be in alumi forum but I cant figure out how to delete it.

In any case...went to buy a 63 Merc 35 for $150 last weekend and came home with a supposed 65 Mirro-Craft 14' Aluminum(but stamp says '58 on transom) on a Gator tailer for double that price. How could I refuse.

So long story short.... I kicked ass for a couple long days and transformed her from being a nice shell with a non-working motor to the following.....Yea I am proud but aren't we all after transforming and bringing boats back to glory.

BTW.....even without a registration, I just couldn't resist taking her out for a rip today on a small lake and I gotta tell ya this little light boat FLIES...with this great little twin classic 35 Merc. Might have to raise the motor a bit to cut down on the porposing though.

I concur! You really ought to think about getting into classic boat rejuvenation as a hobby! LOL

I'm kinda curious about the year on the Mirro... MY 1960 doesnt have the 'lapstrake' detail... I thought that they started that in the early sixties, but you have a plate that says 1958? My '60 doesnt have an ID plate, but there was a horsepower tag on the transom...
Did the boat have any emblems or logos intact? Any 'ghosts' where they might have been?

The registration actually says 1963 but there is a HID stamped on transom that ends with a -58 . Like XXXXXXXX-58 so I kind of assumed it might be a 58 (especially with the windshield and old steering wheel etc.). Found an ad somewhere for a Ski-N-Troll model with the same seat configurtation etc.

There was no indication of an emblem but it was probably under the blue paint that was not chipped on the rear side of the hull and would most likely be similar to your second pic.

Thanks Neil.... she sold on first day on CL and I delivered down to the lake south of here this morning to the new owner. Another old boat/motor back on the water where it belongs.

On to the next one.....

Still for some reason trying to avoid the final CC restore(too many rounded f-glass with the molded seats and I fear the the old roll/tip might not turn out good....gonna be really hard to keep a wet edge. Might have to rent equipment and spray.

In the mean time I have an older 95 Merc all lined up to buy from my friend but need a boat to put it on. I have missed two Hydrostream Vandal's(projects) locally on CL within the last few days for really cheap prices.

Back to religously watching CL.
