TOPIC: Help me identify this 1960 MFG

Help me identify this 1960 MFG 13 years 2 months ago #36771

Hello all,

I inherited this boat (pictures attached) from my grandfather a few years back and am in the process of restoring it. The brochure that came with the boat featured several models and has unfortunately been lost in a move. We do know however, that the brochure was for the 1960 line of MFG boats. It's 16 ft in length and just under a 6 ft beam.

I'm looking to identify this boat in order to track down original decals/deco plates for the sides.

Also, if anyone knows where to pick up an original windshield for this boat, that would be so helpful. The windshield seen here is not original, as the original was destroyed when a tree fell on the garage it was in. I have no clue what model/year the windshield seen here is from. My grandfather was a 'make do' type of guy.

Andrew,

Check the "Glassic Library" section on this site. They have a 1960 brochure. There isn't a 16 ft boat listed, but the 17 footer is actually 16'-6". As far as the windshield, Taylormade still makes replacement windshields. You can probably tell what style from the brochure and get dimensions from the boat. There are some people that make replacement decals. Good luck with it.

The library was my first stop, but unfortunately there's an issue with it at the moment and it won't load. "MediaWiki internal error."

Do you have a link or contact information for the right people at taylormade? Will they also have the frame for the original windshield as well?

Thanks guys.

@Mr. 88 - forgive the newbieness here, but what does 'NOS' stand for? I saw the pics of his stash of windshields. Gonna get ahold of him and see if he has an original for mine, once I identify it.

It sure does look like an Edinboro (wiki is fixed), but the nav light is on the opposite side.

If you are talking about the stern light it may have been installed by someone that had a bad day or was underpaid and under appreciated.I would not make my judgement based on that item. The brochures were really just used for marketing and most had "flaws" in them.
I also count 18 holes not in use on your transom,is it solid? You may want to seal all those up with 3m4200 or 5200 if it's still dry.
