Neil that is my point exactly.

Ever since I found this '60 Merc 300 dead in a barn a few years ago and lovingly restored her(along with the little Whaler shell I found holding trash), I have been hooked on the white Mercs.

Boy would I love that 45 for my Custom Craft. Only it doesn't have the nice original tear drop controls with it because I just talked to the guy and it was someone I just sold a set of controls too last week from a dead 91 Merc 40 classic and he said he didn't need the harness so I pulled the harness/key/choke etc out of it for him to use(and reduced price by $20). He just needed throttle and shift and says it worked out great as far as length.

If the stars line up properly and he doesn't sell it right away and I can talk him into it maybe I can swap him the original 58 Johnson 35 that was on my CC along with hooking it all up etc. Of course then I have to go beyond as far as I got with the Johnson when I only tested compression and did an initial fire up and she was running but not exactly smooth .

We'll see how it plays out.
