1959 Sea King (Span America VIP). Needs upholstery and a few other things. I will plant my 59 Evinrude V-4 50 on her. My new fun and simple little Sunday ride.
Frank went and got this for me once I bought it and he stored it for me until yesterday. Once again Mr Alguire goes above and beyond. You are a good man Frank! Thank you again for the help.

No problem Jim, I'm just glad it worked out for you. Put that baby on jack stands and send me the hubs. I'll rebuild them for you. Better yet, sandblast them first, and I'll send you back ones ready to paint. I paint hubs all the time after they're all greased up good around the inner and outer lips, then clean it out with a paper towel after painting.

Thanks for fixing my merc!

Back in the day at our cottage a neighbor bought a Monkey Wards 59 Sea King boat just like that one. She powered it with a 35 Sea King (Gale) outboard. All decked out with all the Bells and whistels (sp). It could of used a bigger motor.
Looking good Jim. The Fat Fifty is a perfect period correct motor. B)

Glad you have a boat to use the "Fat Fifty" on.

Sweet!

From what I understand, Span America Boat Co. and Fort Dodge Boat Co., both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, collaborated on builidng these boats for Monkey Wards. One molded the hull and the other molded the deck. Not sure which one finished the boats. The two boat plants were right next door to each other and both had come out of Glass Craft Boats also of Fort Dodge.

I love the fact that you know allot of the history on boat manufacturers. Not sure if anyone has ever noticed or said thanks but I do appreciate the knowledge you have.
Always a pleasure Andreas.
