My dad got this thing when i was a kid, worked on it and got it running, put a motor on it and redone the cables and upholstery. He passed away in '03 from cancer and i'm trying to identify what the boat is and eventually the motor. So if anyone can give me an idea on what it is I would REALLY appreciate it. It's been sitting for 7 years now as i haven't had the time to work on it. It has Glass Magic written on the side.

You might be able to ID the boat from the brochures that are in the Glassic Library.

Looks like this may be it. Very cool boat. I hope you hang on to it and restore her.

There are folks here who are much more knowledgeable than I that will likely chime in later but basically search around for soft spots mostly around areas where it's been sitting on the trailer.The most troubled spots on these old glassics however are the transoms,floors, and stringers. No matter what you find as problems you will find people here who will talk you through the process. All you need to do is ask. You have a very nice glassic in your possession and I doubt there is much wrong with her that can't be repaired. Best of luck and post photos as you progress.

very cool boat..and one that is worthy of a complete restoration and tribute to your Dad! these old boats usually have rotten transoms and rotten floors and changing out all the old wood is just part of the hobby...

If it's been stored under cover That is a plus.
By the photo it looks like it was.

Your Dads boat has some great lines .It would be pretty cool to put it back on the water for him .One thing Ive learned on Old Boats ..Dont fear the Reaper ..Sometimes a project seems like youll be in way over your head . But if you just put that fear aside that you cant and just Jump in and do it .. You Will ..Good Luck to you and theres Tons of Great people on here that will help you on your way ..

Hope you decide to go for it, very cool having history like that behind your project! All good advise given, and keep in mind the gang here will help any way we can, here's a thought to keep in mind;

Sometimes the project gets to the point that is seems overwhelming, the "in over my head" syndrome. If you break it down into smaller "one task at a time" sub-sections, it makes it more gratifying and allows you the completion of smaller goals to keep your spirits up. Did that make any sense? More coffee please! :laugh:

Thank for all the help and advice on the boat, when it comes to my dads things it takes a act from above to pry them away from me. It has been under cover and the interior has mostly been covered from the elements. but the paint and trailer and wiring harness need major work and probably going to have just replace the harness. once thats done its going to be on to the motor. He had a Evinrude 33 on it. other than that sentence i know nothing about the motor. lol.

Look in the library under Glass Magic, 1960 and Custom Royal. Looks at least similar and you've got the boat in front of you so can get the right perspective to compare.
