New forum for boating related news items?? 13 years 3 months ago #35444

We had a fatal accident here in Holcombe yesterday. Perhaps there should be a thread for posting news items like this so everyone can find them, read them, learn & be more cautious out on the water.

Wow, what more can you say. They should know about swinging side to side and turning. WHAT A SHAME, and so preventable.

Wow, a few things come to mind. Driving between concrete pillars pulling a tube! Letting a 14 year old drive the boat between two concrete pillars pulling a tube! I'm sorry but some people should not own boats.

Exactly my point. Now 4 have already read it. Someone here that may have previously allowed exactly the same situation to occur will think again.

Having a place just for newsworthy items could make us safer.

i was behind the wheel in my lummie when i was 15, pulling my cousin on skis on the delaware river. where we would make the turn and head back upriver was only about 150 yds. wide. yep you guessed it, he pulled outside the wake during the turn to gain speed and ended up on the shore.(a forward flip into the weeds) luckily at that part of the river the shore was soft dirt and weeds. we laughed our axxx off, and still do to this day.

Wow, must say what a shame.

I'm wondering why there wasn't a no wake marker? ... guessing father n son out for a day... couldn't imagine.

I'm wondering why there wasn't a no wake marker? The bridge is plenty high and the horizontal clearance is maybe 150' but there was no reason to go under the bridge. You need to make a big circle & come right back under again, the dam is just on the other side. ... guessing father n son out for a day...Details have not been released, but rumors don't suggest it. couldn't imagine.

Terrible in many ways . Person Dies ,Kid has to carry that around for the rest of his or her life and for boating and water sports in general .People do something Common sense would tell them not to Next thing you know DNR or some other Suit wearing agency passes laws that kill the sport or add cost to it ..Next thing you know they will build Tubes with Curb Finders and you can only tow a tube at slow No Wake ..
