TOPIC: 63 Glastron... new owner

63 Glastron... new owner 13 years 3 months ago #35387

Hello All,

I joined shortly after my purchase last week but haven't said hello until now. I'm David BTW and just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to the forum. So far I've answered most if not all questions by simply searching the site. Currently I'm semi retired and have way too much time on my hands so I thought, what a great project. It (she) was found in Austin TX via GL. Total cost was just $200.00 so I thought what the hell. I also thought it would be a great father/son project. I'm mechanically inclined with stuff and look forward to TRYING to restore the boat to it's original beauty. Kinda fell in love with the classic lines of the model. I think it just screams early 60's "Americana". Here are some stats and a few pics if interested.

14' 1963 Glastron Ski-Flite.
1964 Johnson/Evenrude Sea Horse 40hp

The boat itself and all hardware was intact minus the interior. The PO('s) had placed a 3/4" piece of plywood on the rotted floor. For the most part the boat is all original to my best knowledge. A semi tear-down is underway and nothing shocking was found. Stringers/transom are kinda solid but will be replaced just because.. Here are a few pictures of how it all started. I look forward to asking stupid/naive questions that have already been answered time and time again...

Welcome David.
You did good, Glastrons are cool old boats.
Father and son restore, even better.
Don't hesitate with pictures and questions, we love both.
