TOPIC: Just bought a Sea King

Just bought a Sea King 13 years 3 months ago #35294

Hello All,

I just bought a fiberglass Sea King. The boat is 15ft long and has the original 35 h.p. motor manufactured by Gale. Most of the original hardware is still attached, including the steering wheel. The hull is white and has a red deck. I'll try to attach pics very soon.

I purchased the craft for very little from a co-worker. It does not have the original trailer. In Indiana, we title only the trailer, so unfortunately, I do not know the year of the boat itself. Seating consisted of two bench seats.

For it's age, I consider the boat to be a very good restoration project.

My questions are:

1. There are a few scratches in the hull. These are above the waterline and are somewhat deep. What is the best way to repair them? Am I looking at a fiberglass repair kit or simply filling them in with Bondo?

2. What is the best product to remove the tarnish from chrome?

3. The windshield has some very tiny cracks in it. I can't even feel them with my fingernails. Is there any way to fix them without having to make a new windshield?

Thanks for all your help.

Pics coming soon.

Welcome Zobie:
Check out the restoration pages link above. There are some great photo tutorials there on issues such as gelcoat repair.
Nice boat!
Andrew
